TeakMount started with a simple problem: every helmet holder on the market was either cheap plastic, cold powder-coated steel, or a 3D-printed bracket that looked like it belonged in a lab, not a garage. We wanted something made from a real material — something that would look better in five years than it did on day one. So we built it ourselves.
## Why Solid Teak Wood Most helmet hooks use painted steel, aluminum, or PLA plastic. We chose Grade-A solid teak because it does something those materials can't: it gets better with age. The grain deepens, the finish warms, and twenty years from now it will still be holding your gear without a chip, a rust spot, or a cracked bracket in sight. Teak is naturally oil-rich, which means it resists moisture without needing a heavy lacquer coat. We apply a hand-rubbed teak oil finish — no varnish, no spray coating — so what you feel is real wood, not a film over it.
The Workshop Every TeakMount is shaped, sanded, and finished by hand in our workshop in India. We don't run batches of thousands — each piece is made individually, inspected individually, and loaded to 12.4kg on the mounting plate before it ships. If it doesn't pass that test, it doesn't leave the workshop. We're a brand of Drop Shelf, founded by a rider who got tired of seeing his own helmet on the garage floor.
